4/10 Book Signing at The Drama Book Shop, NYC
Please join Damon and Bill Esper at a book signing for their second collaboration, the forthcoming The Actor’s Guide to Creating a Character, on Thursday evening, 6 p.m. on April 10, 2014 at The Drama Book Shop at 250 W. 40th Street in Manhattan.
The Actor’s Guide to Creating a Character features a foreword by Emmy and SAG Award-winning actor, Patricia Heaton, an afterword by David Mamet, and advance praise from Timothy Olyphant, Christine Lahti, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Gretchen Mol, and others.
The Actor’s Guide to Creating a Character picks up where Damon and Bill’s first book, The Actor’s Art and Craft, left off, and follows the same group of students through their second year of actor’s training at the William Esper Studio.
Second year work at Esper Studio teaches actors how to remain completely authentic while playing characters whose behavior is totally foreign to them.
Bill Esper studied acting under Sanford Meisner at The Neighborhood Playhouse before Sandy selected him to teach beside him, which Bill did for nearly two decades. Ever since, Bill has worked to deepen his understanding of what Sandy taught and, in many cases, to extend it.
Damon earned his MFA from the Professional Actors Training Program at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts under Bill’s tutelage.
